Trump signs an executive order that makes 2017 Bring Your Daughter to Work Year
March 2017 Despite having assured reporters that she would have no formal involvement in her father’s administration, Ivanka is spotted sitting in on every single meeting. ‘Aren’t you still on the Trump Organisation board?’ asks a reporter. ‘Isn’t this a potential conflict of interest?’ The 35year-old looks momentarily sheepish then replies: ‘It’s bring your daughter to work day.’ Shortly afterwards, Trump signs an executive order that makes 2017 Bring Your Daughter to Work Year.
February 2018 Ivanka is finally ousted from the White House after fellow Donald acolytes complain of nepotism. Even Trump’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, has pronounced her close involvement to be ‘unethical’. A joint statement from the Bush and Clinton families states that there are limits to the extent to which politics can be dynastic, and that the Trumps are testing those limits. Ivanka elects to concentrate on her work at the Trump Organisation, and releases a new line of jewellery to commemorate her career change, called ‘Daddy’s Girl’.
April 2020 Another presidential election is on the horizon. With Donald trailing in the polls to Democrat candidate Kanye West, Ivanka tries to reinvigorate the Republican cause with a policy that will please everyone. ‘I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth,’ she explains at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, hurriedly removing a silver spoon from her mouth. ‘The Government is committed to meritocracy, and that’s why we – they – are going to be providing mentoring and financial assistance to one lucky little boy.’ The lucky little boy is later discovered to be her four-year-old son, Theodore.
