Aus­tralian swimwear la­bel Une Piece launched with a sim­ple mis­sion: to give the rash vest a glam­orous re­brand­ing. The brand’s Sexie Rashie swim­suits are cut to achieve Bond-girl sil­hou­ettes, plus prac­ti­cal­ity in the form of UPF 50+ sun pro­tec­tion and ma­jor chlo­rine re­sis­tance. ‘I don’t think any­one was try­ing to cre­ate beau­ti­ful, sexy swimwear prod­ucts that were sun­smart [be­fore us],’ says founder Carly Brown. While she deems other rash vests ‘ba­sic and not fash­ion­able’, Brown says she de­vel­oped her Orig­i­nal Sexie Rashie through 11 rounds of sam­pling, end­ing up with a de­sign that has 28 com­po­nents and an ideal fit. ‘I didn’t com­pro­mise, and now we have a whole range of new prints and shapes that are fully con­toured to a woman’s body.’ That doesn’t sound rash at all.
