Australian swimwear label Une Piece launched with a simple mission: to give the rash vest a glamorous rebranding. The brand’s Sexie Rashie swimsuits are cut to achieve Bond-girl silhouettes, plus practicality in the form of UPF 50+ sun protection and major chlorine resistance. ‘I don’t think anyone was trying to create beautiful, sexy swimwear products that were sunsmart [before us],’ says founder Carly Brown. While she deems other rash vests ‘basic and not fashionable’, Brown says she developed her Original Sexie Rashie through 11 rounds of sampling, ending up with a design that has 28 components and an ideal fit. ‘I didn’t compromise, and now we have a whole range of new prints and shapes that are fully contoured to a woman’s body.’ That doesn’t sound rash at all.
