New collections with something to celebrate

1. A QUIET GLAMOUR

Interior-design company Taylor Howes is marking its 25th anniversary with its first furniture collection. Titled Love at Dusk, it is designed to capture, as founder Karen Howes describes it, ‘that magical hour when day turns into night’. It includes sleek, glamorous seating, tables and cabinets in a palette of greys, deep blues and creams with subtle metallic accents: wool upholstery woven with gold thread; sofas and chairs with brushed-metal legs and plinths; and midnight-blue cabinetry with a gold-ombré finish. The pieces are available to order, from £2,200. taylorhowes.co.uk

2. EASTERN INFLUENCE

Another British brand celebrating its quarter century is de Le Cuona. Known for its luxurious, stonewashed linens and elegant paisleys, the company produces an estimated 34 miles of fabric a year for the UK alone. Bernie de Le Cuona started the business with the aim of bringing innovative textile production techniques from around the world to Britain, and her latest accessories collection is inspired by ancient Japanese textiles. The throws and cushions are made from linen, wool and silk fibres that have been felted (condensed and pressed together), rather than woven, giving them an elegantly crumpled look, and come in a palette of blues and reds. delecuona.com

3. WISH LIST

As aspirational chairs go, Carl Hansen’s CH24, or Wishbone chair, is right up there. Designed in 1949 by Danish modernist Hans J Wegner, its distinctive wooden frame and woven paper-cord seat have made it a mainstay of the stylish dining room, for those who can afford it: a single chair costs around £600, or over £1,000 in woods such as cherry or walnut. To mark the company’s 110th anniversary, however, Carl Hansen has produced a limited-edition collection of Wishbones at the slightly lower price of £500, painted in one of six new colours taken from nature, including oyster grey, forest green and russet red. The chairs are available until 31 December. carlhansen.com
