It was Grace Cod­ding­ton, the for­mer Amer­i­can Vogue creative di­rec­tor, who first sug­gested that women could and should be wear­ing Paul Smith suits. Af­ter she styled mod­els in his menswear on her pages, the de­signer launched the wom­enswear arm of his epony­mous la­bel in 1994 and never looked back. Un­til now – his new Tuxedo col­lec­tion re­flects on the brand’s an­drog­y­nous suit­ing his­tory, but brings it right up to date with sub­tle tweaks to the pro­por­tions.
