MY MOTHERIN-LAW’S WHITE LAUNDRY TIP

The Daily Telegraph - Telegraph Magazine - - Charmed Life -

My mother-in-law Ann Robinson, 80, from Surrey, is such a stain-busting ninja that we take our whites round for her to tackle. Nothing – not beetroot nor pen – beats her. Her advice: ‘Soak laundry overnight in cold water with washing liquid to loosen the stain before popping it in the washing machine. The water has to be cold – warm or hot water will set the stain.’ Ann is a keen Which? reader, and she informs me that the ‘very best’ washing liquid right now is Lidl’s Formil biological washing powder (£2.99 for 3 litres). ‘It’s just as good as Ariel which I used to think was the best.’ High praise indeed.
