Jewellery house Chopard – which sprinkled the leading ladies of Cannes Film Festival with gems all week – staged a ‘Love Night’, a soirée devoted to all things romantic. Camper-thancamp Mariah Carey sang, Dita Von Teese performed burlesque, The Phantom of the Opera inspired the grandiose decor, and the red carpet was made from recycled ocean plastic. What’s not to love?

A few days later, Chopard teamed up with men’s style magazine Gentleman’s Journal to host dinner at Hotel du Cap-eden-roc (far right). The chatter of guests comparing suit cuts was complemented by the lapping of the sea and the whirl of helicopters

– the real soundtrack to the jet-set summer.
