Interior designer Kelly Hoppen reveals her weekend treats My Saturday

The interior designer and former Dragons’ Den star, 60, on following workouts with long lunches, and the ‘evil’ TV show she can’t resist Kelly Hoppen

6am I’m always up early; even on weekends, I never sleep in. I head into the kitchen, make hot water and lemon followed by an espresso, and then I’m ready for training. 7am

My personal trainer arrives at my house. I work out for an hour and a half every day in my home gym –

I never have a day off. I do weights, though no training day is the same. I see three different trainers and on Saturday it’s Peter Coby. 8.50am I make poached eggs on a piece of gluten-free toast and eat alone as John [Gardiner, Hoppen’s partner, a retired businessman] heads into the gym after me, skipping breakfast; plus, I’m too hungry to wait. I read the papers and watch Sky News while I eat. Afterwards, I take a bath with Dove soap – I’ve always used it. 11am I put on an American Vintage khaki jacket with some Zara jeans and my new Dior sneakers, which I bought at Heathrow Airport.

Midday Igoto Caramel in Notting Hill to buy clothes for my grandson. I always have a potter round there when I have a weekend in London; it’s nice to browse as I’m usually so busy. 1pm John and I go for lunch at Chucs on Westbourne Grove. It’s small and cosy, and the food is simple. I have the chicken with rocket and tomato, and John has the same, followed by a big plate of cheese. We’ll sit there until 3pm just chatting and laughing. 3pm I walk to the art gallery Themes & Variations and then down to Portobello Market to look at all the antiques – I love vintage. I recently bought two lights from a tiny shop in Porto Rafael, Sardinia. I paid more to ship them back than they cost. 6pm

We head home and put on an episode of Succession. It’s so evil I have to break for a cup of tea. I find the characters awful but I can’t stop watching it – John and I are total bingewatchers. 7pm We like to stay in on a Saturday night, we never go out. Instead, we invite friends over – we use our home a lot to entertain. I make grilled salmon and vegetables with salad, and dessert is something bought from Ottolenghi. Midnight

Once everyone has left, I put everything in the dishwasher and get ready for bed. I brush my teeth, and use my Dr Barbara Sturm Brightening Face Lotion.

MY FAVOURITE SCENT YSL’S Opium has been my signature fragrance since I was a teenager. £45 for 30ml edt, yslbeauty.co.uk

I’ve seen hundreds of episodes of Shark Tank. It’s so different from Dragons’ Den [the US series’ UK equivalent] – it’s brilliant. I’M WATCHING
