THE LIVING ROOM
I’m not a fan of open-plan rooms so I kept the living room and kitchen separate. The colours of the tiles in the fireplace pick out accents in the room. The furnishings are a mix of textures, while mid-century-style pieces, such as the Barker & Stonehouse lounge chair and footstool, are sympathetic to the period of the house and look slick and stylish, but are still really comfortable. The Frame TV from Samsung above the mantelpiece cleverly disguises itself as a piece of artwork. The walls are painted in Dulux Taupe 3 and the noise-reduction windows are from Hugo Carter.
My first thought was, how are we going to keep this room tidy? Where will all my clutter go? But I loved how clean and open it felt and couldn’t get over the curtains from Hillarys – they were pink and pleated! How did he choose those?
