Susy Atkins has the perfect pairings for a microwave meal
The vibrant flavours of Georgie’s curry call for an aromatic sauvignon blanc, although a cool wheat beer would be equally appealing. It has to be an Italian white for her risotto – this one makes a refreshing change from the usual soave.
IRRESISTIBLE LEYDA VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC 2020, Chile, 13 per cent, Co-op, £7.50 —
There’s plenty of zesty lime flavour here, combined with tangy fresh gooseberries and a hint of green bell pepper. A perfumed, lively white that cuts it with the curry.
HOEGAARDEN BELGIAN WHEAT BEER, 4.9 per cent, widely available, £4.50 for four 330ml bottles —
This cloudy wheat beer, with its gentle coriander spice and soft lemony streak, makes a great partner for curries, especially mild ones like Georgie’s.
FOUND RIBOLLA GIALLA 2020, Venezia Giulia, Italy, 12 per cent, Marks & Spencer, £7 —
From M&S’S Found range of more unusual wines, a dry white from the relatively cool northeast. The ribolla gialla variety gives it a scent of apple blossom and a delicious cocktail of yellow pear and peach.
