THE BIJOU BATHROOM

THIS SHOWER ROOM measures just over 6ft x 5ft, so the task for bathroom designer Jo Sangster of Ripples (ripplesbathrooms.com) was ‘to deliver a stylish space that didn’t feel cluttered or gloomy’.

First, she opted for a walk-in shower, which gives a greater feeling of spaciousness than a shower enclosure, and the floor is tiled for a more streamlined look. The wall-hung vanity unit and loo open up the floor space, and wall-mounted basin taps reduce countertop clutter. In the shower, storage nooks are built into the wall cavity, as is the shower mixer, so the handheld fitting can sit as close as possible to the wall.

Lighting can make a big difference in the bathroom. Here, ceiling spotlights have been combined with indirect lighting beneath the loo to make the room as bright as possible.
