DESIGN ADVICE FOR SMALL SPACES
Use the same paint colour for walls and ceilings, and avoid accentuating angles and junctions – this helps everything to blend seamlessly together and draws attention away from a low ceiling.
Counter-intuitively, it often pays to go for oversized pieces of art and furniture – they can trick the eye into thinking the space is more generous than it really is.
Keep furniture low to the ground if possible as this helps give the space the feeling of height.
Clever, bespoke storage is a must – if you can, have sockets for electronics built in and hidden away, so there are no jumbled wires or Wi-fi routers on show.
In a small room, avoid anything that looks out of place or messy, as this will tend to emphasise the lack of space.
