Star man Jonny Evans

Tony Pulis has utilised his connections at Manchester United to excellent effect, with Scotland international Darren Fletcher the heartbeat of the team. Evans has been indefatigable, showing such consistency that it remains a mystery why United let him go.

What went right

Tony Pulis detests his reputation as the Bear Grylls of management but virtually guarantees Premier League safety year after year. While huge clubs such as Newcastle and Villa have suffered relegation, West Brom have never looked in danger and that is testimony to Pulis.

What went wrong?

Berahino effectively went AWOL after his move to Spurs was blocked last summer and Pulis had to pick up the pieces. It was not until February that the striker finally cleared his head and it cast a dark cloud over Albion’s season. Pulis’s tactics were also targeted by supporters.

Lame duck Rickie Lambert

His £3 million move from Liverpool was supposed to revive his career but he has again found first-team opportunities limited. Even Saido Berahino’s lack of focus earlier in the season failed to give Lambert the platform to make a name for

himself.

What’s the verdict on Tony Pulis?

Pulis’s future has become uncertain in recent months but all the signs are that he will stay, at least for the final year of his contract. He has delivered exactly what Albion have required and is now keen to fire up his squad with fast, attacking players.
