Star man

“We’ve got Payet, Dimitri Payet” chant the West Ham fans and there really is only one contender for the title of being the club’s player of the year. The French midfielder has been a revelation since signing from Marseille and has scored stunning goals.

What went right

Slaven Bilic could barely have wished for a better first season in charge. The club should move into the Olympic Stadium with European football and plenty of optimism. Bilic has managed to bring the entertainment, which was missed under Sam Allardyce, back to the club.

What went wrong?

Not a lot. The home defeat by Swansea City ended any hopes of Champions League qualification, while they will regret not reaching the FA Cup final but Bilic will not look back at the season with many regrets.

Lame duck Enner Valencia

The forward suffered a bad injury in Europa League qualifying, but he has failed to find his best form since recovering. They will almost certainly listen to offers for the Ecuadorean this summer. Victor Moses, on loan from Chelsea, has been a big disappointment.

What’s the verdict on Slaven Bilic?

Bilic was by no means the first choice of coowners David Sullivan and David Gold when they considered the options to replace Sam Allardyce. But he has proved to be the perfect appointment.
