Hesleyside Huts, Northumberland
Designed in the style of a New England pioneer chapel, the Holly Hut is blessed with an interior that wouldn’t look out of place inside grand Hesleyside Hall itself. The hut, clad in upcycled wood from a Victorian school, has a kitchenette, en suite lavatory and mezzanine bedroom, which creates extra room beneath for a vast copper bathtub. A miniature roof tower and cute lancet windows, meanwhile, add some extra chapel character. Step out to explore the grounds of 18th-century Hesleyside Hall, with sweeping gardens. The North Tyne runs through the estate and fishing can be arranged while, beyond, Kielder Water and Forest Park offers water sports and challenging mountain biking.
