With the is­sue of “over­tourism” be­com­ing in­creas­ingly per­ti­nent, a grow­ing num­ber of coun­tries are ask­ing over­seas vis­i­tors to sign a pledge when they ar­rive.

Last year South Pa­cific na­tion of Palau be­gan re­fus­ing en­try to any­one who did not agree, in writ­ing, to “pre­serve and pro­tect” the idyl­lic ar­chi­pel­ago.
