Landowners around the country – including stately homes, farms and racecourses – are temporarily opening up as campsites from Monday in order to meet holiday demand. A relaxation in the law will allow sites to operate for 56 days (compared with the usual 28) without planning permission. Dan Yates, the managing director of Pitchup.com, said: “The scale of demand this year is going to be enormous, but summer is not fully booked. Have a look online. There’s something for everyone.”
