Isa transfer has taken six months
I wished to transfer all my Isa holdings and my late husband’s Isa to another provider. St James’s Place Wealth Management has now done this and has also moved my husband’s Isa cash to my bank account.
However, it is nearly six months since I forwarded the deed of probate for his death to it.
Can you find out why there have been such delays? LW, N YORKS
Failure to communicate properly and explain for instance why your late husband’s money had been moved, correctly as it turned out, into a Unit Trust account left you at a loss about what was happening.
I understand that the administration centre was initially unable to process the transfer request as the investments were still held in your late husband’s name.
St James’s Place Wealth Management said additional delays had been caused by having requests from two parties who were both trying to achieve the same end but going about it in different ways.
This apparently led to some temporary confusion over which instructions should be followed.
Worryingly, even after the funds had been transferred a letter you received said you had already had £10,536 when you had actually received just £9,779.
St James’s Place admits it was mistaken over this.
It apologised for the delay experienced in completing the transfer. It has now offered you £1,500 in recognition of the stress and inconvenience caused.
