Baume & Mercier lines up an In­dian sum­mer

Fol­low­ing its col­lab­o­ra­tion with Las Ve­gas-based sports car icon Shelby Amer­i­can, Baume & Mercier has launched a part­ner­ship with the his­toric In­dian Mo­tor­cy­cle Com­pany.

Amer­ica’s old­est mo­tor­cy­cle man­u­fac­turer, In­dian’s most fa­mous chap­ter was the achieve­ment of the late Burt Munro, who set a sub-1,000cc mo­tor­cy­cle speed record on a 47-year-old In­dian at Bon­neville Salt Flats 50 years ago. The first watch to have emerged, a ver­sion of the brand’s sporty Clifton Club chrono­graph, takes its look from that of Munro’s heav­ily-adapted bike, with a bright red strap and “35” – Munro's lucky num­ber – in a yel­low cir­cle on the dial.

A sec­ond ver­sion takes a rather more un­der­stated stance, with a black/grey look and par­tially open­worked dial – its aes­thetic in­spired by the old-school look of In­dian’s bikes.
