Warning signs: risky investments
Many investments are considered high risk. Here are three the Money Advice Service says could be successful, but where investors should take care.
Structured products: these could include guaranteed equity or capital bonds. Some offer full protection, many don’t.
Venture capital trusts: investing in small firms not listed on a major stock exchange (see page 4). The companies can make a loss or fail entirely.
Spread betting: more like betting than investing. Bet on whether the value of a share will go up.
