Christmas is usually the busiest time of the year for events photographers such as Tom Dingley, 34, from London.

Last year he was working at a corporate function in Madame Tussauds with 800 guests; now he has just three jobs lined up for the new year. He has lost almost all his income this year because of the pandemic. He was unable to claim support as he earned more from employment in previous years even though he is now a sole trader, so he cannot use the furlough scheme either.

“While everyone else is gearing up foror Christmas, I and othershers who have been excluded xcluded are definitelyy fac-facing our darkest kest year, with a real eal life Scrooge in charge of our ur support,” he e said.
