INVESTORS RAISE A GLASS

Virgin Wines was the toast of London this week as the online alcohol retailer’s share price fizzed on flotation. Shares in the firm, which delivered more than one million cases of wine to customers last year, rose 16pc on Tuesday, from a listing price of 197p to a close of 228p. Investors in four Mobeus venture capital trusts were also celebrating, as the firm owns more than a third of the shares. Mobeus is not raising new money this year, but investors have snapped up rival top-performing VCTs before the end of the tax year.
