‘The tax break spurred us to invest’
RACHEL MARTIN AND JAMES HARRIS Stamp duty holiday
In November the couple had an offer accepted on a house in Banbury, Oxfordshire, to use as a buy-to-let investment. But the purchase was jeopardised as the stamp duty holiday was originally set to conclude at the end of March, with the couple still waiting to exchange. Without the extension until June, they would have pulled out of the transaction. Ms Martin, 27, who runs striveX accountants with Mr Harris, 29, said: “Now we have something really tangible as a pension pot to sustain us in the future.”
