Sweet surprise from Oris

- EH

Candy-coloured dials were one of 2020’s big success stories, with lots of major names unveiling timepieces in sorbet shades – think of Rolex’s pastel pink Oyster Perpetual, and Nomos’s tropical Club Campus 38. Meanwhile, last year also saw Oris score a hit with its distinctive Divers Sixty- Five Hölstein Edition 2020 in bronze: a handsome, limited-edition 43mm homage to the brand’s German home that felt lighter on the wrist than its looks suggested.

Oris has now brought these two winning formulae together with the launch of its Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy watch. It’s been created, according to the brand, “to bring a smile” and “the optimism of better times” – and we could all do with that.

Although arguably a departure for Oris, it’s all the more covetable for it. Intentionally unisex, it combines an all-bronze 38mm case, bezel and crown engineered for the Hölstein Edition 2020, with a dial in a choice of sky blue, fresh green or lipstick pink.

Buyers can choose from a brown leather strap with a bronze buckle, or a Hölsteinesque multi-piece bronze bracelet with a folding clasp. Plus, there are all the usual features you would expect from a Divers Sixty-Five, including water resistance of 100m and Super-LumiNova-filled hands and indices.
