WINDSOR CASTLE June 15th The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanie­d by The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning visited Runnymede on the occasion of the Eight Hundredth Anniversar­y of the Sealing of Magna Carta and were received at Runnymede Meadows by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey (Dame Sarah Goad), The Duke of Cambridge, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord Dyson (Master of the Rolls), the Rt Hon David Cameron, MP (Prime Minister), the Rt Hon Philip Hammond, MP (Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonweal­th Affairs and Member of Parliament for Runnymede) and the Mayor of Runnymede.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanie­d by The Duke of Cambridge and The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, listened to a choral performanc­e and speeches delivered by the Master of the Rolls, the Prime Minister and the Archbishop of Canterbury and met representa­tives from organisati­ons associated with the event.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of Cambridge, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, RN, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy were present.

The following had the honour of being invited: the Lord Carrington and the Hon Virginia Carington, Field Marshal the Lord Bramall, the Lord and Lady Sainsbury of Preston Candover, the Lord and Lady Ashburton, Sir Timothy and the Lady Mary Colman, the Duke of Abercorn (Chancellor) and the Duchess of Abercorn, Sir William Gladstone, Bt and Lady Gladstone, Sir Antony and Lady Acland, the Duke and Duchess of Westminste­r, the Lord and Lady Butler of Brockwell, the Lord Morris of Aberavon, the Rt Hon Sir John Major and Dame Norma Major, the Lord and Lady Luce, Sir Thomas and Lady Dunne, the Lord and Lady Phillips of Worth Matravers, Admiral of the Fleet the Lord and Lady Boyce, Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord and Lady Stirrup, the Baroness Manningham-Buller, the Lord and Lady King of Lothbury, the Bishop of Winchester (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr Thomas Woodcock (Garter), Lieutenant General David Leakey (Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod), Mr Patric Dickinson (Secretary), Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vernon (Secretary, Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood), Marquess of Lorne (Page of Honour) and Mr Lachlan Legge-Bourke (Page of Honour).

A Service was held in St George’s Chapel this afternoon.

Detachment­s of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty.
