Playboy model linked to gangland killings

A PLAYBOY model and former Miss Bosnia contestant has been extradited to her home country after being linked with five gangland murders and a string of robberies that netted millions.

Slobodanska Tosica, 29, was detained in Croatia on an international arrest warrant after reportedly fleeing Bosnia and Herzegovina last year, amid an investigation targeting an organised criminal gang in which she allegedly played a role.

Code-named “Operation Doll”, the investigation led to charges against 32 people, most of whom are currently standing trial and some of whom have already been convicted.

The charges against her reportedly stem from her relationship with Darko Elez, an alleged gangland boss who has already been jailed for crimes including murder and robbery.

The Bosnian prosecutor’s office confirmed on Wednesday that Miss Tosica had been extradited back to the country, where she will now face trial.

Among the charges is the alleged attempted murder of her former lover Djordje Zdrale, a local gangster currently serving a prison sentence for the murder of a police chief. Miss Tosica is accused of luring Zdrale to a location where he was ambushed and shot.

The gang allegedly carried out heists on banks, post offices and security vans. The total value of the robberies, according to police, is more than £4 million.

Miss Tosica is a wealthy celebrity in her own right, having capitalised on her modelling fame to carve out a TV career, appearing on programmes such as the Serbian version of Survivor.

The beauty queen competed in Miss Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005, finishing as the runner-up, and also claimed victory in the “Miss Photogenic” contest.
