Original Apple-1 will go on sale for £320,000

-

One of only 50 first generation Apple computers made is set to sell at auction for an estimated £319,000.

The Apple-1 was hand-built by company founder Steve Wozniak in 1976 and sold for £426.48.

Still working and in near-perfect condition, the landmark technology was the first personal computer to go on the market. It simply needs to be connected to a screen and a keyboard, which come as part of the lot, for buyers to programme and play games.

The machine was sold by a customer to a Florida shop run by Tom Romkey, who left it on a shelf. It goes on sale at Bonhams on Sept 21 in New York.
