Labour’s purge

-

SIR – Harriet Harman’s proposal to root out the Labour opponents who registered to vote in the leadership contest (report, August 26) is sure to face a legal challenge.

The deal was that for £3 you would be allowed to vote in the leadership and London mayoral elections. To renege on that would be immoral.

What sort of an election is it where those who might vote the “wrong” way are not allowed to vote?

SIR – Labour wants to ensure that people “who don’t share [its] aims or values” don’t get a vote.

Does the party consider that Jeremy Corbyn shares its aims or values? If it does, those who wish to vote for him must be accepted. If it doesn’t, the party should not accept him as a contender for the leadership.

SIR – If my stated support for Labour is rejected, will I get my £3 back?
