Mahout charged over Briton’s death

The handler of an elephant that trampled a British tourist to death in Thailand has been charged with negligence. Police said images from Gareth Crowe’s camera proved the mahout’s “recklessness” in climbing down to take a photo. It raised criticism that the migrant Burmese worker was being made a scapegoat for the Thai safari company.
