You can’t measure health in body weight

-

Scientists have found that almost half of “fat” people are actually healthy. A study from the University of California has found that weight is a “deeply flawed” way of judging someone’s fitness. It also found that a third of people of “normal” weight had heart problems.

I have long believed I am a much healthier person now I am heavier. At my slimmest, I had sallow skin, barely ate and was miserable. Now I am occasionally miserable, but life is better. To beat depression, I go to the gym five days a week.

People – slim people, mostly – cannot stand it when someone who is fat claims to be fit. The plus-size model Tess Holliday works out, but has been accused of “promoting death”. Katie Hopkins once wrote that I was “body-bag ready” as opposed to beach-body ready. Cruelty is accepted when it’s aimed at the overweight. Enough is enough. Life is too short, whether you’re fat or thin, it turns out.
