I’d just like to put this out there at the start; you can have too many jackets. You can have too many of anything. But how many is too many jackets? One of each kind is a rational starting point. A blazer (in summer and winter weights), a velvet tux, a casual utilitarian one, a Chanel-esque bouclé one… and so it goes.

Here’s an excellent candidate for the cropped category and in a check that looks right on the money – although in this instance there’s not that much money involved.

Wear it with flippy skirts (see left), the new highwaisted trousers and layer it over stripes. Agreed, that will look a bit clashy, but 2016 is all about clashing. Stripes and checks are the only way to get through it.
