Duchess should find Swiss life less taxing
We’ll miss her when she’s gone. Or will we? Sarah Ferguson has announced that she is in the process of becoming a permanent resident in Switzerland, having already moved into the £13 million ski chalet in Verbier she bought with her ex-husband Prince Andrew two years ago. Helora, as the house is also known, was purchased as a “nest egg” for their daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie – though Fergie obviously realised that as her pair spend most of the year on holiday, they wouldn’t need it.
Fergie says that she feels “free and happy” in Switzerland, a famous tax haven. “I find here a positive energy that allows me to focus on new philanthropic activities.” Careful Fergie, you’re sounding a bit like Google, there!
But to be fair to the former Duchess of York, tax havens do have a habit of freeing up a lot of cash. Just one thing. Could she take Prince Andrew, too?
