A PERFECT DAY

-

Do

Prague offers numerous memorable activities, from a cruise along the Vltava to a classical music concert in a timeless interior. But perhaps the best way to take advantage of the city’s naturally romantic charms is simply to stroll. Thanks to Prague’s compact size, you can enjoy a scenic walk along the riverbanks, admire the rose gardens at Petrin Hill, and visit the peaceful grounds of Vysehrad Castle, all in the same day. The cemetery in the latter is the resting place for poets, artists and composers such as Antonín Dvořák, Alphonse Mucha and Jan Neruda, and is also a fine spot for sunset views across the river and back down to Prague Castle.

Drink

There are a number of swanky cocktail bars dotted throughout in the city, but many tend to be lively bordering on boisterous at weekends. The dark and discreet Bar & Books, on the other hand, is ideal for an seductive tête-à-tête. Book-lined, woodpanelled walls, suave, attentive service and wooden tables adorned with candles create a refined atmosphere. And whether you perch at the bar or sink into one of the black and red leather banquettes, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of the drinks.

Eat

The terrace restaurant at the prestigious U Zlaté Studně (Golden Well) hotel enjoys sweeping views of the city thanks to its enviable hillside location beneath Prague Castle. The elegant Czech and international cuisine is regularly praised as one of the best in the city. If the weather isn’t quite up to the outdoor vistas, there’s an indoor (heated) terrace as well as a striking Renaissancestyle dining room. To read the full review, see telegraph.co.uk/goldenwell
