‘Sex-obsessed’ writing course offends student

-

A UNIVERSITY has been told to pay compensation of £750 to a woman who claimed that the teaching on her writing course was obsessed with sex.

Angie Marynicz, 61, a former student of the University of Wales Trinity St David, saw her complaint partially upheld by the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education.

Among her complaints, she wrote: “At the beginning of one of his modules, [the Head of School] announced that ‘all literature is about sex because sex is the most important thing in the world’. It was “a very worrying statement to make in front of impressionable young adults when it is clearly not true”.

A university spokesman said: “The complaint was deemed partly justified and, in accordance with the recommendation of the OIA, a sum of £750 was paid.”
