SIR – I agree strongly with the complaint from Veronica Bliss (Letters, June 7) about tennis commentato­rs.

Their unnecessar­y and obtrusive chatter ruins it for me. Switching off the sound is the only alternativ­e, which loses the game’s atmosphere. Sheila Hayward Cowes, Isle of Wight SIR – Veronica Bliss should make more use of the “mute” and “subtitles” buttons on her remote control.

I can follow the score myself, as I am sure she can. I don’t have to hear the grunting, the screams or the commentato­rs calling players by their first names. If there is a question about the score, it will appear on the screen. Maureen Holtum Bath
