Cricket and chips

-

SIR – While walking my dog in our local park yesterday morning, I tried in vain to help several boys from the junior team of our cricket club to find their lost cricket ball. During their pre-match knockabout it had been hit into some dense undergrowth.

Why don’t manufacturers place a small chip, like the one my dog has fitted, inside cricket balls? The chip could be made to respond to an inexpensive hand-held activator, thus aiding ball recovery. Rev Christopher Roberts Sutton Coldfield
