Modern girl

She shone as the romantic heroine Natasha Rostova in the BBC’s War and Peace this year. That followed her stint in Downton Abbey as Lady Rose MacClare.

But Lily James is fed up with period drama and wants to get modern. She says: “I don’t want to close doors but I’ve got to a point where I’m looking to do what I want. I’d like to act in a different style, [without] a period dictating how to emote, or speak, or feel.”
