- By Patrick Sawer

MICK JAGGER has gone back to his Dartford family roots by naming his new baby boy after his late father, Basil.

A photograph of the baby, Sir Mick’s eighth child, appeared briefly on an Instagram account under the name of Elizabeth Jagger, one of the Rolling Stones singer’s other children.

The caption read: “My beautiful baby brother, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger.”

Basil was the first name of Sir Mick’s father, a retired teacher who died aged 93 in 2006, although he was known to others as Joe.

Sir Mick, who was born in Dartford, Kent, became a father again at the age of 73 on Dec 8, with his partner Melanie Hamrick, 29.

The new arrival was announced by the Rolling Stones’ publicist Bernard Doherty, who said: “Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York and they are both delighted.”

The new baby is Sir Mick’s fourth son and his first child with ballerina Ms Hamrick.

Elizabeth, commonly referred to as Lizzy, is followed by more than 50,000 people on her social media account. Shortly after posting the photograph of Sir Mick’s new son, and attacting hundreds of “likes”, the picture was taken down.

Sir Mick, who is a greatgrandfather, has six other children as well as Lizzy and his one week-old son: Karis, Jade, James, Georgia, Gabriel and Lucas. Their ages range from 17 to 46.

The singer began dating Ms Hamrick after the death in 2014 of fashion designer L’Wren Scott, Sir Mick’s partner of 13 years.

The Stones’ drummer, Charlie Watts, fathered an only child, a daughter, in 1968, and guitarist Ronnie Wood has six children – three sons and three daughters – born between 1974 and 2016.

Guitarist Keith Richards has a son and three daughters, born between 1969 and 1986; another son, born in 1972, died at two months old.
