Clooneys’ double dose of good news
AFTER years as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, George Clooney is now joining the ranks of celebrity older fathers, after it was confirmed that he and his wife are expecting twins.
Matt Damon, the actor and close friend of the 55-year-old, said Clooney had accidentally let slip that his wife, Amal, was expecting. Damon appeared on US television, apparently with the blessing of the couple, following a string of reports speculating that Mrs Clooney, 39, might be pregnant.
She is expecting twins in June, it has been claimed.
Damon said he was so thrilled for the high-profile couple that he “almost started crying” when he found out last autumn. He told Entertainment Tonight Canada that Clooney, 55, told him the news while they were filming together. At the time his wife was around eight weeks pregnant. Mr Damon said: “I’m like, ‘ Are you out of your mind? Don’t tell anybody else, I mean, don’t you know the 12-week rule?’
“Of course he doesn’t. Then four weeks later, ‘I’m like, ‘We’re good right, we’re good,’ so I’m thrilled for him.”
The twins will be the first children for the Clooneys, who were married in a lavish Italian wedding ceremony in 2014 after a whirlwind romance.
