£80 litter fine for OAP caught feeding birds
A pensioner has been fined for littering after she fed bread to pigeons.
Council officers gave her an £80 penalty notice for the offence, saying that dropped food was a health risk and unattractive for fellow residents.
The 71-year-old had been feeding the pigeons in Haven Green, Ealing, west London, when she was fined.
A council spokesperson said: “Dropping food, even to feed pigeons is a health risk and can attract pest species such as rats as well as being unpleasant for other residents. We are committed to ensuring that our streets and open spaces are litter-free.”
