Police hunt Spinnaker Tower base-jumpers
Police are hunting two men who broke into the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth before base-jumping (parachuting) from the top.
The pair are alleged to have caused criminal damage when they broke into the 107m-high viewing tower at about 9.15pm on March 9. Hampshire Police have issued CCTV images in a bid to identify the daredevils.
“Base” is an acronym for buildings, antennae, spans and earth, the four launching points for participants. The extreme sport was first documented in 1978 by filmmaker Carl Boenish.
