NHS nurses eat better food than their patients

-

Doctors and nurses enjoy better food in hospitals than the sick, a report has found, with one in five patients forced to eat reheated airline-style food from plastic containers.

A survey by the Campaign for Better Hospital Food found that fewer than one third of London hospitals serve freshly cooked meals to patients, but 77 per cent provide fresh food for staff.

Half the hospitals surveyed are also failing to meet basic standards for nutrition and hydration, prompting calls for tougher legal requirements.
