Jewish man held over bomb threats
A YOUNG Jewish man has been arrested in Israel on suspicion of masterminding a wave of bomb threats against Jewish centres around the world.
The 19-year-old, who holds both Israeli and American citizenship, used “advanced camouflage technologies” to shield his location and throw investigators off his scent, Israeli police said.
The arrest followed a joint investigation with the FBI. Jeff Sessions, the US attorney general, said the probe spanned “multiple continents”. About 150 bomb threats were made to Jewish schools, community centres and synagogues in the US since January.
Galit Bash, the man’s lawyer, told a court that he suffered from “severe medical problems” that might affect his psychological state.
