Scandal over the million yen ‘bung’

The wife of Japan’s prime minister has been accused of paying off the owner of a Right-wing school at the centre of a growing political scandal.

Yasunori Kagoike told parliament that Akie Abe had given him 1 million yen (£7,216) in cash on behalf of her husband.

It is alleged that the school sits on state-owned land which was sold for a fraction of its market value.
