French worker abducted in Chad

A French man has been kidnapped in a remote area of Chad near the border with Sudan’s Darfur region.

The man, in his 60s, had been working for a mining company and was seized while carrying the staff ’s wages yesterday.

No groups have claimed responsibility or made demands. The area is crossed by rebels who are fighting the Sudanese government in Darfur.
