At the Spring North American Bridge championships in Kansas City, Missouri, a team containing two English players reached the final of the Vanderbilt, the tournament’s premier teams event, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.

The two are David Gold and David Bahkshi, who played on the team captained by the American Richard Schwartz, the rest of the team being the Canadian Daniel Korbel and the Norwegians Boye Brogeland and Epsen Lindqvist.

Apart from Schwartz himself, this was the first appearance in the final for the team members. The winners of the final were the Nickell team (Nick Nickell and Ralph Katz, Jeff Meckstroth and Eric Rodwell, Robert Levin and Steve Weinstein).
