Pc’s injuries ‘life-changing’
ONE of the three Metropolitan Police officers mown down in Wednesday’s terrorist attacks is believed to have “life-changing injuries”.
Pc Kris Aves, 35, was walking across Westminster Bridge with two colleagues following a commendation ceremony when they were struck by the car driven by Adrian Ajao.
It is understood he underwent more than eight hours of surgery. His two colleagues were also injured but less seriously and were said to be making progress. Pc Roger Smith underwent an operation on a leg injury, while Pc Bradley Bryant was released from hospital having sustained minor injuries.
The three officers, who are based in Lambeth, south London, were among at least 50 people who were injured in Wednesday’s carnage.
In a statement Pc Aves’s family said: “Kris went to work on Wednesday full of pride as he was receiving a commendation for his exceptional work as a police liaison officer during a demonstration in 2016.
“What started as a celebratory day, ended in tragedy.”
