Branch closures Banks fading fast

Banks are closing down branches so quickly that there are now fewer than post offices for the first time, the report says.

The number of bank branches shutting their doors has rocketed in recent years as more banks are moving online.

Lloyds, HSBC, RBS and Barclays have all closed branches since January last year. Lloyds has closed the most, with 200 closures announced in July last year.

The closures will particularly affect people in rural areas and older people who do not bank online.
