Laptops on flights Rudd raises prospect of total ban

-

A ban on laptops, iPads and other gadgets in hand luggage could be extended to all flights into Britain, the Home Secretary has suggested.

Devices larger than a mobile phone were banned on flights from six mainly Muslim countries last week as a result of intelligence about “laptop bombs”.

But as the bomb-making methods may be shared worldwide, Amber Rudd said the ban might eventually apply to every flight into Britain.

Asked by the BBC’s Andrew Marr whether there should be total ban on laptops in hand luggage, Ms Rudd said: “It’s difficult to see how far this will go, whether we may at some stage arrive at that place.”
