MP ‘sorry’ over failure to disclose HS2 interest
A Conservative MP has apologised “profusely” for failing to declare at an HS2 debate that his home is being bought by the high-speed rail link.
Andrew Bridgen (North West Leics) made the apology in the House of Commons after being found to have breached the rules governing MPs’ interests following an investigation by the Commons standards watchdog.
Mr Bridgen admitted failing to disclose the financial interest in a debate on HS2 in Westminster Hall on March 25 last year. He also failed to disclose it while submitting a written question to the transport secretary in October 2013 and taking part in the High-Speed Rail Preparations Bill debate the same month.
