The Full Works Concert: A Viennese Celebration
CLASSIC FM, 8.00PM
It’s 175 years to the day since the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra gave its first concert, in Vienna’s Musikverein. To celebrate the occasion, Jane Jones presents the orchestra performing with a range of conductors, including John Eliot Gardiner and Claudio Abbado, and pianist Lang Lang, before they end with a rousing rendition of Johann Strauss’s Radetzky March Op. 228, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. There’s also a chance to hear the New York Philharmonic play Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No 3.
